Like I said before: good to see something new from you!

On the lens issue. You know I mainly use the 24-70L now as my always-on lens these days. You get used to the weight pretty soon. I had the chance to use the 70-200 2.8L IS for a shoot recently. Awesome lens, but not for my usual shooting needs. I still prefer the wide angle, but I'm waiting for next (two) weeks to find out what's up with Canon and Nikon.

Looks like I'll be on a job with people from both companies at Photokina and I got a glimpse at what to expect from Nikon, still working on finding out what Canon has to offer though.

That being said, I wish you a safe trip home! Take care!

I visited Austria at this time of year once. May I express my extreme jealousy to the both of you? ;-) Seriously, I look forward to seeing lots of lovely pictures. Enjoy your trip.

I probably sound like a broken record, but I've been very pleased with my very first lens: Canon's 28-135mm IS USM. Of all the lenses that I use and have used, I've gotten the most mileage out of this one, by far. It's sharp, has IS, focuses quickly in all but the lowest light, and doesn't weigh a ton.

You can now get this as the kit lens with the XSi, I believe, which is a brilliant move on Canon's part. This is one of those "mid-grade" lenses that just about anyone could happily use day-to-day.
