FedEx forgets how to deliver packages
FedEx has apparently forgotten how to deliver packages, because two recent packages I sent out came back to me, marked “3 att”, which I suppose means three delivery attempts were made. The punchline is they never made it out of my home state. What’s worse, they’re marked as “Delivered” on the FedEx website. See below. How can two packages that were returned to the shipper be marked as “Delivered”?
I called FedEx this afternoon to see what happened. I can only assume two things: they’re completely uninformed about the status of their packages, or they lied to me. Here’s why.
The first package was supposed to go to Center Valley, PA. It was addressed to Olympus PR. I’d sent packages there before, by FedEx, to the same address. This particular package contained the SP 560-UZ camera, which I recently reviewed. I was returning it to them.
When I spoke with a manager at FedEx, she informed me in no uncertain words that delivery attempts were made on the package on three separate occasions, and that the recipient simply wasn’t available to receive the package? Really? Why does their website say differently? Here’s what it says about the package.
The package never even made it out of the state! You can see it was marked as sent back to me at 2:22 PM on 2/27, and the last note about Lewinsberry, PA, was added after the return had been completed. How could the FedEx manager openly lie about this?
The manager also lied about the fate of the package addressed to Data Robotics. I was returning a defective Drobo to them in exchange for a replacement. Here’s what the FedEx website says about that package.
This package also never made it out of Maryland!
FedEx, shame on you for lying to me like this, and shame on you for not being able to deliver packages. Not only are you more costly than UPS, but you’re approaching the sub-standard performance of the USPS, which is indeed very sad. Thanks for wasting my time and the time of Olympus PR and Data Robotics. Again, shame on you!

Raoul, we just had a FedEx experience that I’m getting ready to blog. The short version is that our address shows up wrong on Google Maps as well as on many other maps that use GPS. They tried to deliver a package twice today and couldn’t find our house. Google shows our address at the other end of the block. It’s not THAT long a block, and our address is very visible from the street.
All the driver had to do was go five or six houses down the block and read the house numbers. What gives?
I’ve never had any problems with FedEx delivery before today.
Our son was very tenacious about getting hold of this package. It was a laptop that was being returned on a warranty repair. The box was delivered right to our door (the kid has had a FedEx delivery! Now he’s important!), but they couldn’t figure out how to get the laptop back to us!
Pardon any typos. My mouse just died. I could have sworn I’d changed the batteries recently. Perhaps that was my laptop mouse…

FedEx are lying w*nkers - pure and simple. They said that their driver couldn’t find my address today, and that he tried to call my landline; this IS A LIE, because our call records at the telephone exchanged (1471) clearly state that the last number to ring us was a local friend, AND NOT FEDEX!.
I called the local FedEx depot, and played the last called number message to them OUT LOUD ON LOUDSPEAKER from my landline, so that they could see the driver was blatently telling lies!. They have now promised to retry later on this evening… we shall see… :-S
