An update on Zooomr

Updated 10/29/2007: I’ve revised my opinion of Zooomr since I wrote this. See “Taking a break from Zooomr” for the details.

Have a look at this comment from Thomas Hawk over at Scobleizer. He goes into great details about the situation, and things look very good for Zooomr!

Sun Microsystems proved how nice they are by loaning them a huge server with 42 terabytes of data. That monster is on the way by truck, if it hasn’t arrived already. Zooomr will definitely be zooming along when that thing is turned on! Zoho has also come through in a big way and helped Kris and Tom by giving them space in their data center.

I tell you, I’m amazed at the outpouring of help from the tech community. I expected them to come through, but not on such a large scale. Meanwhile, donations gathered nicely for Zooomr yesterday, and I’m sure Kris will be able to meet his expenses now. You know, I can’t remember another occasion in recent history when customers rallied to save a company. It speaks a lot about Zooomr’s potential, and about their users’ dedication to the service.

Can’t wait for Zooomr to be back online.
