Updated 10/29/2007: I’ve revised my opinion of Zooomr since I wrote this. See “Taking a break from Zooomr” for the details.
Zooomr’s long awaited Mark III release launched last night, only to have their database server go out about 10 minutes after the live launch. We’ve all been frustrated by the long migration period and the missed ETA’s, but Zooomr did manage to launch last night, and now they need our help.
The problem is, they need new hardware and haven’t got the funds. They’re looking for VC funding, but meanwhile, they need urgent help. If you can donate money, please do. Use the “Make a Donation” button on the Zooomr launch page. If you’re a hardware company and would like to help them with a server, please do. Your help is much needed, and the publicity will be good.
Here are links to the posts talking about this at the Zooomr Blog, Thomas Hawk, Zooomr Hits and Robert Scoble. And here’s the video that Kris recorded in the data center last night. It really stinks that all sorts of events like these are preventing them from launching. Let’s help them if we can! If you believe in Zooomr, kindly put your money where your mouth is, and send them whatever you can spare. It’ll add up, and they’ll be able to get the hardware they need to get back up and running.

Raoul,
Way to go, keeping the conversation going. I’m blogging the issue too.
Trevor
