China jails yet another journalist with Microsoft’s possible cooperation
The Sidney Morning Herald reports on a journalist jailed last year, who will now stand trial (after over 5 months in jail) on charges that he used his Hotmail account to send articles on unemployment and rural poverty to US-based China web portals - which aren’t popular with the Chinese government. How they got hold of that information isn’t known, because Microsoft isn’t saying anything, and neither is the prosecutor, who accused the journalist of subversion… Given Microsoft’s cooperation with the Chinese government in the past, it wouldn’t be surprising if they cooperated this time as well. Here’s the link to the article.
