ATF agents rid university of deadly ninja threat

From Boing Boing:

“Agents from the US bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearm agents detained a “suspicious individual” on a Georgia college campus — a guy dressed up in a ninja costume, on his way to a party on campus. Jeremiah Ransom, a sophomore from Macon, was leaving a Wesley Foundation pirate vs. ninja event when he was detained. After being held in investigative detention, he was found to have violated no criminal laws and was not arrested.”

Let’s congratulate our ATF agents for a job well done… I especially like the way the agent in the photo uses his entire body weight, concentrated on his knee, to pin down the neck of a scrawny college student. I’m sure one or two of his vertebrae aren’t sitting right anymore, but hey, deadly threat contained!

Look, sarcasm aside, I know people are on the edge since 9/11, but please, officers, show some restraint. I have no problems with law enforcement making sure something or someone isn’t a threat, but I do have a problem with use of excessive force and abuse of privileges.

This photo is just one example. Some other things that are not right: officers who will park their private cars illegally, or who will get into accidents and use their buddies at the police station to falsify the accident report, or officers who give out speeding tickets when someone isn’t speeding… I’ve been reading about this stuff, and some of it’s been happening to me as well. It’s not right!

I love good cops. Bad cops I’m not too crazy about.
