Holy Americans (!)
Read this news blurb from the Religion News Service. This is unbelievable! These people have no idea what holy means, but they’re “holy”? What presumption!
Truth is, we’re all sinners. Look at all of the Bible figures who actually qualified to called holy - all of the prophets, all of the righteous folks - did they go around calling themselves holy? No, they acknowledged their sinful nature and realized that without God, they could do nothing, that their “righteousness is as dirty rags” in front of God - including even the apostle Paul.
Not even Jesus Christ ever claimed He was holy, and of all the men who ever lived, He truly was! And yet we have Christians going around saying they’re holy when most don’t know what it means, probably don’t study the Bible enough, do not have a daily devotional life, and cannot claim a relationship with God like David or Noah or Enoch or Moses.
It just doesn’t make sense. And it makes me furious.
