Faint whimpering sounds
Every Saturday afternoon around this time, for the past few months, without fail, some neighbor of mine (I live in a high-rise condo building) starts either playing with their small kid or doing some other strange thing, because I hear the same darn, faint, whimpering sounds, and the stuff goes on for close to an hour, sometimes more. It sounds like “Weeeeee” - the sort of dumb goo-goo noise an adult would make to bewilder a baby. How long can one go on making that noise? What in the world could they be doing with the kid, bouncing him up and down? How can the kid take that kind of abuse without crying? The noise drives me up the walls. I sure wish I knew who it was, because I’d go buy a newspaper, roll it up, knock at their door, and smack them on their head with it. Instead, I have to keep taking pills for my headaches…
