Interesting graphs of OS installed base

Stumbled onto this site. It only graphs to June of ‘04. I wonder what the installed base looks like now… namely, where’s OS X on that chart now. How much has Apple’s installed base grown since then. It has to be at least 1-2% more.

Court blocks DOD’s new rules for workers

Aha, so we’re still stuck with government employees past their expiration date… It’s really a shame, those new rules were pretty good.

Libby ad-libs galore

Isn’t it nice to know you can still influence public opinion through fat trust funds, well-placed friends and advertising? Libby’s site proves that point.

Apple News Event was a bit of a letdown

So all that came out of today’s Apple news event was a new Mac Mini and an Apple Boombox for the iPod (officially called iPod Hi-Fi)… Okay, am I the only one disappointed? Granted, all of the wild speculation that went on before the show was mostly in the heads of Apple fans like me, [...]

So what will Steve Jobs do?

Engadget has the answer to this in the run-up to Mac’s news conference this morning. I loved all the entries, but my personal favorite is Adam K’s Apple Tablet. I also loved Nick C’s iPhone and Wes’ iGiveUp. Great stuff! Access the full post here.

Have you heard of a Klixx?

Me neither, until I picked one up at this year’s HIMSS Conference in San Diego. One of the vendors was giving them away, I believe they were CPSI. Anyway, the little things are addictive. They make little clicking noises as you twist and bend them into various shapes. So I thought it’d be fun to [...]

Why my Dell Inspiron can’t go to sleep

I’d been having problems getting my Dell Inspiron 8500 to go into suspend and hibernation modes lately, and attributed it to yet more glitches in Microsoft software. I had been installing and uninstalling various software, and I figured the OS had gotten out of whack, although things were functioning just fine otherwise.
It wasn’t until I [...]

Google Payments

Just read a recent posting on the Official Google Blog regarding payments. It’s interesting to see the way they presented payments. I hadn’t thought of it that way. After all, they really have been handling online payments for some time, in the amount of billions. They’re simply expanding their payment options for other services. It’s [...]

Saw a bumper sticker this morning

I couldn’t help chuckling a bit when I saw it. The fellow driving the car had a goatee and was driving on, oblivious to the fact that someone was looking at his car and at him, chuckling… I couldn’t help wondering if I should honk, but I just chuckled some more…

Faint whimpering sounds

Every Saturday afternoon around this time, for the past few months, without fail, some neighbor of mine (I live in a high-rise condo building) starts either playing with their small kid or doing some other strange thing, because I hear the same darn, faint, whimpering sounds, and the stuff goes on for close to an [...]

Google publishes National Archives videos

Remember all of the old newsreels people used to see at the theater, before movies? Okay, so you don’t… but if you saw any old movies, you might have seen it there… Well, Google is working with the National Archives to put all of those old videos on Google Video. They already have about 120 [...]
