Nine Americans killed in Iraq today

Nine Americans were killed today in Iraq. Four of the bodies were burned. Two were hung from a bridge while people danced underneath. One was dragged through the streets, tied to the bumper of a car. The other burned corpse was beaten repeatedly with a metal rod by one Iraqi. Are these the people we “liberated”? Are these the fruits of our “war on terrorism”? Read the article on MSNBC.com: “9 Americans, including 4 civilians, killed in Iraq”.

Daily I hear of more people being killed over there. Bombs go off here and there, legs and arms get blown off, faces and bodies get burned beyond recognition, people die, yet we’ve won. (Read more here: “Wounded in the line of duty”.) I just don’t see the point of it all. I fail to see how we’ve done anything good when this is the result. Is this what war is about? Is this what we get when we meddle in foreign affairs? Why can’t we just stay at home? We’ve got enough problems to solve right in our own back yards: pollution, roads, power lines, energy conservation, the budget, healthcare, drug use, drinking, STDs, proper screening of foreign visitors, etc.

Why should we spend billions of dollars that could be used for other, more useful things, on a country where all we get in return are bombings and murders?
